Ideal Fostering is an independent fostering agency based in Walsall, supporting children, young people and foster families across the West Midlands, Staffordshire and surrounding areas. Built upon strong family values, our focus is on providing high-quality, family-based care while working towards positive outcomes for every child and young person placed with our foster carers.
Evolving Fostering
We understand that fostering is about much more than providing somewhere to live. Children and young people need stability, security, understanding and a sense of belonging. That is why we place their individual needs at the centre of our approach, working carefully with foster carers, local authorities and other professionals to create supportive placements where children can feel valued and cared for.
Our multicultural team includes experienced social workers, support staff and managers, with our management team bringing extensive experience from both Local Authority and independent fostering settings. Ongoing training helps our team maintain and develop their knowledge as children’s services continue to evolve.
Ideal Fostering is registered, regulated and inspected by Ofsted. We work with a wide range of Local Authorities across the region, including Birmingham, Walsall, Staffordshire, Sandwell, Telford and Wrekin, Worcestershire, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Stoke-on-Trent, Solihull and Coventry.
These relationships are an important part of providing effective foster care. Good communication and collaboration help everyone understand a child’s circumstances, needs and progress, allowing decisions to remain focused on their welfare.
Supporting Our Foster Carers
Foster carers play a vital role in the lives of children and young people, and we believe they should have access to the guidance, training and practical support they need throughout their fostering journey. Our supervising social workers work closely with foster carers, while our wider team includes placement support workers who can provide additional practical assistance. Ideal Fostering also provides access to support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with an on-call social worker available during evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Training is another important part of our approach. It helps foster carers continue developing their skills and knowledge while responding to the individual needs of the children and young people they care for.
Finding the Right Placements
Every child is different, and every fostering household brings its own experiences, strengths and circumstances. We work to understand these individual factors when considering placements. Our aim is to create safe, stable and appropriate family environments while giving priority to the identified needs of each child. Our ethos also places importance on children’s rights, diversity, security, belonging and close cooperation between the professionals involved in their care.
We support a variety of fostering arrangements, including short-term and long-term fostering, respite care, parent and child placements and sibling placements. Quality foster care depends on people. It requires patience, communication, professional knowledge and, above all, a genuine commitment to children and young people.
At Ideal Fostering, we work hard to recruit caring foster parents and provide them with the support and training needed. We also recognise the importance of listening, learning and working together, whether that means supporting a foster carer through a new challenge or working alongside professionals to understand what a child needs.
Our passion for therapeutic care also reflects our wider commitment to recognising the experiences that children may bring with them and creating environments where they can experience consistency, care and understanding.
